Burn Prevention

Burn injuries occur every day, affecting all members of our population, from infants to senior citizens. Fortunately, safety practices can prevent many of these injuries from occurring.

The most common types of burns, according to the Burn Foundation, are scalds, flames, contact, chemical, electrical and sunburns. The NFPA stated that "scald burns accounted for almost one-third (32%) of all non-fire burn injuries reported to hospital emergency rooms in 2007."
